Oooh I do love Easter! Aside from its religious significance, this holiday is welcomed for many reasons, not least because it usually involves a 4-day weekend and lots of chocolate...
This year, rather than cram in a short break somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere (pic2 & 3 from NZ Easter 2012), or even a flying visit back to the Emerald Isle like last year (pic1), we'll be spending the long weekend in Sydney.
To celebrate, we're going to spend some quality time doing not much of anything at all! Already today I've done a whole lot of nothing, so things are certainly going to plan.
As my significant other doesn't eat chocolate, I always find Easter a bit of a challenge in terms of gift giving. In previous years I've made him a giant, egg-shaped cheesecake (pic4) and stuffed a clear plastic egg full of jelly-beans (both offerings very well recieved!) but I'm running out of ideas.
This year I heard that a local cinema was showing classic children's movies every Sunday morning for the months of March and April. In a very lucky coincidence, the movie they're screening on Easter Sunday is my boyfriends all-time favorite childhood classic -The Princess Bride.
The only catch is the early screening time of 10.30am, and the high likelihood that the rest of the audience will be comprised of chocolate fueled children! Still is a good excuse to explore Leichhardt's many brunch options beforehand and get our of the house on what promises to be a sunny Sunday morning.
In the mean time I intend to continue my mission of abject laziness, and enjoy every moment of my laid back Easter break! Hopefully you'll enjoy yours just as much :)
